Madrid is the third-most populous european city after London and Berlin.
It is residence of the Spanish monarch and the political centre of Spain. The population of the Madrid metropolitan area is calculated as 6 million. The city is plenty of history, but it is also a modern European capital with an intensive nightlife.

Puerta del Sol in Madrid is not only the geographical centre of the capital but also the centre of Spain. In Puerta del Sol lies the statue “Bear and arbutus” (El oso y el madroño), which is the symbol of Madrid.

Plaza Mayor, just a two minute walk from Puerta del Sol, is the city’s focal point as bullfights, carnivals and all the great festivals and ceremonies.

Particularly, Madrid Chueca quarter, in the hearth of the city, became a new atraction in recent years, with the gay population investing money in local business and property.
